Spinal Cord Reconstruction Surgery + Stem Cell Therapy
This treatment aim to restore neurogical function (which previously otherwise permanently lost), the combination of neurosurgery and biotherapy repopulates damaged areas of the spinal cord and aim to improve the ability of patients to move (“motor outcomes”) and to feel (“sensory outcomes”) beyond the level of the injury.

Treatment Program at Puhua Hospital
With the lead of Dr. Xiaodi Han (Head of neurosurgery dept.), who had accumulated over 20 years experience in neurosurgery and biotherapy research, we give our patients the best chance of recovery. The body’s immune system is unable to recognize umbilical cord-derived mesenchmyal stem cells as foreign and therefore they are not rejected. HUCT stem cells have been administered thousands of times at the Puhua Hospital and there has never been a single instance rejection (graft vs. host disease). Umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells also proliferate/differentiate more efficiently than “older” cells, such as those found in bone marrow, they are considered to be more “potent”.

Dr. Xiaodi Han graduated from Shanghai Medical University (now merged with Fudan University) in 1992. In the same year, he came to work at the Neurosurgery Department of Beijing Tiantan Hospital. There, he studied under Professor Jizhong Zhao, and participated in many important research projects of Beijing. He is the first doctoral student of Professor Jizhong Zhao. He is also the editor of many neurosurgery books. Since working at the Neurosurgery Department of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, he was in charge of comprehensive treatment of glioma and various kinds of neurosurgical treatments. He has worked at Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, and Wichita State University, Kansas, America. Subsequently, he has worked at the Neurosurgery Department of University of Rochester Medical Center where he was responsible for post-graduate research specializing in stem cell treatment.
Currently, Dr. Xiaodi Han is the Chief Neurosurgeon of Beijing Puhua International Hospital. He devotes himself to clinical work and teaching research of stem cell treatment for neurosurgical diseases. He is ingenious at surgical treatment and comprehensive treatment for malignant tumor, which has brought him international recognition. In addition, he is a forerunner of stem cell research, both at home and overseas.
